I love Philadelphia have built a large archive of documentary and portrait photography over the past twenty years.
My photographs have been published in Popular Photography Magazine, Philadelphia Magazine, Philadelphia City Paper and on various websites including Hidden City Philadelphia, Curbed Philly, Philadelphia Magazine's Philly Property blog and Plan Philly's "Eyes on the Street." I was selected as a finalist and published in Photography Forum Magazine's Annual Best of Photography 2014 book with an image from my In Transit series, and in the Philadelphia ASMP chapter in their 2014 Annual Focus Philadelphia competition.
I have contributed photo essays and stories to Hidden City Philadelphia, a non-profit organization with a mission to "Inspire people to be curious about the city, to fall in love with its remarkable but lesser-known places, and to give their time, resources, and ideas to realize new futures for the places and communities where we work." My author archive on Hidden City Daily can be found here: http://hiddencityphila.org/author/TheresaStigale/
In 2012, I joined the Leadership Team of The Philadelphia Photo League, which was formed to emulate the original New York Photo League and focus on documenting our city and volunteering our collective group photography skills to work with local non-profits. Our motto is "Changing the world one picture at a time." New members are welcome to join: http://www.philadelphiaphotoleague.com
In the fall of 2017, selected photographs taken on behalf of the Philadelphia Photo League and the Sharp Insight Program were on exhibit in the Philadelphia Museum of Art, in the "Philadelphia Assembled" project. http://www.philamuseum.org/exhibitions/854.html
My latest work involves creating a series of portraits in my studio, working on photoshoots with models and a professional creative team. These photographs incorporate mostly vintage and found materials that I have collected over the years and are intended to express observations of societal expectations, restrictions and materialism. All are as of yet unpublished works-in-progress (as of Spring 2018) in preparation for future publication and exhibition.
